Message from the Senior Treasurer,

Should universities produce employable graduates? is an ongoing debate in the academic and policymaking circles. Some believe that the universities should assess the industry needs and produce tailor-made graduates. In contrast, others think that we should create well-rounded and adaptable graduates who could also create employment opportunities through engaging in entrepreneurship. We, the faculty of agriculture, University of Peradeniya, while believing that it is vital to produce employable graduates, have also taken many initiatives to make our graduates more innovative, creative, and self-reliant to initiate their businesses. I am happy to say that the students of this faculty have created the Evoke Society with the primary objective of promoting entrepreneurship among their fellow students. The Evoke society has taken many initiatives to educate fellow students within and outside the faculty/the university on essential aspects of entrepreneurship and business creation, focusing on changing their mindsets from being more dependency-oriented to being more self-reliant entrepreneurs. Therefore, I consider that the launching of this website is a vital step in the right direction for achieving the primary objective of the Evoke society, as this would enable it to reach out to a broader community. Therefore, I take this opportunity to wish the Evoke society and its members success in their future endeavours.
